Beach Photo Shoot in January

I did a photo shoot yesterday morning at the beach here in South Florida.

Do you know how much I love living in a place that permits a beach photo shoot in January? Granted, you can do a beach photo shoot anywhere but that doesn't mean you can touch the water without cringing from chills.

I will admit that if the water temperature is anywhere below 70, my little toes freak out upon first contact. In the shore break yesterday morning the water was perfect for the winter months: low to mid 70s. You'd think that the photographer might not be in the water too. Well, that's not the case. I wanted a variety of angles so I ended up a bit in the water.

I absolutely love living here and I feel like each week I discover a new reason why living here makes my heart so happy. Week after week a new item is added to the "Why I Moved Here" list.

The photos are ready for viewing!

Real Estate Photography: Back to Basics

It pains me to see how many homes are on the market in South Florida - particularly in my beloved Palm Beach County - however, once I view their photos, or lack there of, it's  no wonder why they've been on the market for so long.

There are a ton of people, not unlike myself, who hail from other states. Some people travel here on vacation and vow to return sooner than later and buy/rent a home. Why? Because it's absolutely beautiful here!

They return from vacation and scour the internet looking for that perfect home. If their search yields homes with bad photos or no photos, what then?

We live in the age of technology. This means if the sellers (real estate agents or FSBO) don't have photos posted and are unwilling to supply photos, then a buyer/renter doesn't often think they are worth the effort. Like I said before, there are plenty of homes on the market so they'll just bypass yours and continue their search.

She did it again.

Tonight's yoga class was touch and go at first. As we filled the room for the 7pm class, there weren't many people. I had never seen so few people but figured all the more space for us - so cool! That is until I heard someone in the doorway of the room say, "It's canceled."

But I need yoga. I do it only two times a week and there are many, many days when I absolutely need it. I missed class last week while I was traveling so I was quite desperate to play catch up.

The library had offered some other group our room so yoga was canceled ... at least in the library it was canceled.

Priyanka, a queen at improvising and adapting, decided to have yoga outside the library in the courtyard. It was like our own yoga version of occupy West Palm Beach. It was as peaceful a protest as possible. LOL

I had a wonderful time in class - in the fresh air and warm South Florida weather. It is an absolutely beautiful place to live but tonight reminded me, once again, how glad I am to…

Chase After Your Dream.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did.

This post is dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

While many people in our nation might see today as just another day off, I'd like to express my gratitude to all the men and women in this country who sacrificed their lives, their safety and everything else just to demonstrate the need to change the way we operated as a country. What I find hard to believe, having been born in the 80s, is how recently all of this happened and how recently our nation shifted from "White only" and "Colored Only" to an integrated (for the most part, let's be honest) society.

So, thank you, Dr. King, for all that you gave us. And, thank you for all the people who honored his dream - Black, White and young and old, who gave up so much to fight (nonviolently) for what they knew was right.

Do the right thing -
even when no one cares

I was traveling through Dulles International Airport and finally made my way to the gate. I had spent about two hours killing time and both my computer and phone were dead so I thought I'd hit the gate about 20 minutes early to add some life back into them.

Dulles, unlike many airports out there, caters to people (not unlike myself) who depend on available outlets during travel. Why more airports don't have outlets conveniently available is beyond me. Nonetheless, in the Southwest terminal, there are areas to charge away. (Thank you, Southwest)

I was about 60 feet from the gate and figured I'd board at the very last moment so my phone could be as (pathetically) charged as possible. While I waited, I saw a lady in a rushing down the corridor eat the floor damn hard.

She must have been at least 55+ years old (can you tell I live in Florida with the way I phrased that? LOL). Anyway, she was running, tripped and hit her whole body against the ground with incredible force. It …
